ResearchCrane policies
These pages describe how ResearchCrane currently handles privacy, retention,
public knowledge, payments, and cancellation. They describe product
behavior. They do not guarantee uptime, latency, report accuracy, cost,
savings, or third-party provider availability, and they are not a promise
of a particular legal outcome.
Privacy Policy
Private investigation content
Uploaded documents and other private investigation or session content are
retained for up to 60 days so ResearchCrane can support the investigation
and later follow-ups.
You may delete an individual attachment or an entire investigation earlier.
Deleting an attachment removes its extracted text and prevents that
attachment from being used in later follow-ups. Generated report prose may
still contain conclusions derived from a deleted attachment. Deleting the
attachment alone cannot reliably remove those conclusions. Delete the
entire investigation when you need full removal of retained investigation
content.
Uploaded documents and private claims taken from them never enter the
shared Living Brain and are not used for model training.
New uploads are not allowed on follow-up questions. Undeleted original
attachments may remain available for follow-ups until you delete them or
they expire.
ResearchCrane does not process this retained investigation content only in
memory. Retention on the service is the default for the 60-day window
unless you delete the content earlier.
Content-retention opt-out
A research request may include a content-retention opt-out. That option
does not remove records needed to authenticate you, secure the service,
operate the product, bill you, or keep accounting records. Opting out is
not a promise that a request is processed only in memory.
Shared Living Brain (curated public knowledge)
The shared Living Brain holds curated claims derived from public sources.
Your prompts are not evidence and are not published as public claims.
Uploaded and other private documents never enter the public Living Brain
namespace.
Public web results and public URLs you supply may be placed in a candidate
queue for possible shared use. A URL is not private merely because you
supplied it.
Knowledge asserted only by a frontier model cannot become shared Living
Brain content just because the model said it. Independent public
corroboration and policy review are required.
“Curated” means deterministic policy gates plus model-assisted review,
with human review for escalations and samples. It is not a promise that
every item was manually reviewed, or that every item is infallible.
ResearchCrane does not promise perfect factual accuracy.
Operational telemetry
ResearchCrane may retain operational metadata to keep the service
reliable, prevent abuse, reconcile billing, and improve operations.
Telemetry is distinct from the private text of uploaded documents.
A content-retention opt-out does not eliminate records needed for
security, accounting, or operating the service.
This page does not publish an exhaustive list of telemetry fields.
Third-party processing
Research requests and related account activity may be processed by
third-party:
- model providers;
- search and web-retrieval providers;
- Stripe, for payment processing;
- infrastructure and service providers where needed to operate ResearchCrane.
A named provider is not described here as always receiving your data
unless that routing is a required part of the action (for example, Stripe
when you pay). This page does not claim that providers never retain data.
Terms of Service
ResearchCrane is the product name of this research service.
Pricing, wallet balance, Pro entitlement, and request quota are determined
by authoritative server and Stripe state, not by figures shown only in the
browser.
ResearchCrane Pro includes exactly 100 requests per Stripe billing period.
Every new investigation request and every follow-up consumes one request
where the server accepts the work. Failed validation does not consume
quota. Platform failures follow backend reservation settlement or release.
User cancellation of queued work and cancellation after execution has
started can have different billing results; see the
Cancellation and Refund Policy.
You manage subscription status through the in-app billing controls and the
Stripe customer portal when the server provides that portal.
Financial and accounting records may remain after you delete an
investigation.
These terms do not promise automatic refunds, refund eligibility or
timing, subscription proration, deletion of legally required financial
records, guaranteed uptime, latency, report accuracy, savings, or
provider availability.
Security controls
ResearchCrane uses layered technical controls, including input limits and
sanitization, to reduce risk from untrusted prompts, documents, and web
content. Those controls are defense in depth. They do not make attacks
impossible. They do not completely prevent harmful input.
Cancellation and Refund Policy
Research jobs
If you cancel work that is still queued, the server may release the funds
or Pro quota reserved for that request.
If you cancel after execution has started, provider work may already have
begun. In that case the request may still be settled against your wallet
or Pro quota.
These outcomes follow authoritative backend billing state. This page does
not promise an automatic refund, a refund window, or proration.
Subscriptions
You manage cancellation of ResearchCrane Pro through the supported
billing / Stripe customer portal. Displayed status such as
cancel-at-period-end comes from server and Stripe state.
This page does not promise that unused requests are refunded or that a
billing period is prorated.
Payments and failed charges
Wallet top-ups and subscriptions are confirmed only after the server
reconciles the payment. A browser redirect is not itself a credit or a
refund.
If a deposit fails, your wallet is not credited by that failed attempt.
If a charge appears on your payment method, that is a matter for your
payment provider and server reconciliation. This page does not promise an
automatic refund.
Platform failures follow backend settlement or release of reservations.
That is not a customer refund guarantee.
After deletion
Deleting an investigation removes retained investigation content as
described in the Privacy Policy. Financial and
accounting records may remain.
Support
For account, billing, subscription, payment, refund, privacy, or
technical-support questions, email
[email protected].
You can manage an existing subscription through the in-app
“Manage subscription” action, which opens the Stripe customer portal when
the server provides a portal URL.
Refund requests are reviewed case by case. This contact does not promise
automatic eligibility, a fixed refund window, subscription proration, or
a particular resolution time.
